The short version
Use the system as a family record, not as the official source of truth.
Brown Family Legacy helps organize household information, but banks, insurers, government agencies, courts, employers and licensed professionals remain the authoritative sources for their own records and decisions.
1. What these terms cover
These terms apply to Brown Family Legacy and the family applications available through it, including Household Ledger and Grocery. Brown Family Legacy is private household software, not a public commercial service offered to the general public.
2. Accounts and household access
Accounts and households are created for authorized family use. Creating an account does not create a right to view any household. Access to household records depends on household membership and the permissions assigned to that account.
- Use your own account and keep your sign-in credentials secure.
- Do not attempt to access another household's records or another person's account.
- Tell the household owner if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else.
- Actions performed while signed in may be associated with your account so the household can tell who created or changed a record.
3. Household records
Information entered into Brown Family Legacy is maintained for the household's use. The software does not claim ownership over the household's records, documents, photographs or other material.
A household owner may add or remove members and may change what each member can see or do. Removing an account does not necessarily remove historical household records connected to that person when those records are needed to preserve the household's history.
4. Google sign-in
Brown Family Legacy may offer Google as a sign-in method. Google sign-in is used for authentication and basic account identity only. The application does not obtain access to Gmail, Google Drive, Google Contacts or other Google account content merely because someone signs in with Google. The Privacy Policy explains the information received and how it is handled.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use Brown Family Legacy to:
- break applicable law or intentionally facilitate unlawful activity;
- attack, probe or interfere with the systems or services that operate the applications;
- attempt to bypass household permissions or database access controls;
- impersonate another user; or
- store information you have no lawful or household reason to keep.
6. Optional outside services
Some workflows can deliberately send limited, processed text to an outside language-model service for suggestions. These steps are optional and are not required for ordinary Google sign-in. The Privacy Policy describes what is sent, what is redacted first, and how the resulting suggestions are reviewed.
7. No professional advice
Brown Family Legacy may organize financial, tax, insurance, legal, employment, medical or other important household information. It does not provide legal, financial, tax, medical, insurance or other professional advice and should not be treated as a substitute for a qualified professional.
8. No warranty
The software is provided as available and is under active development. It may contain mistakes, incomplete features or periods of unavailability. No promise is made that every calculation, record, import, reminder or display is complete or error-free.
9. Keep independent copies of important records
Brown Family Legacy is intended to improve household organization, not to become the only surviving copy of something irreplaceable. Keep original legal documents, official statements and other critical records in an appropriate independent location when they would normally be retained outside the application.
10. Limitation of responsibility
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the people who build and operate Brown Family Legacy are not responsible for losses caused by unavailable service, inaccurate or incomplete information, lost data, or decisions made solely in reliance on what the software displayed.
11. Ending access
A household owner may end a member's access at any time. A user may also request removal of their account. Household records may remain when they are part of the household's durable history, subject to the application's privacy and retention rules.
12. Changes to these terms
These terms may change as Brown Family Legacy changes. The updated date above identifies the current version.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, United States.
